- Administrative Tasks: Handle correspondence, transcribe dictation, order medical and office supplies, prepare admission/discharge paperwork, and maintain office organization
- Compliance & Support: Follow healthcare regulations, assist with audits, and support clinical staff with non-clinical tasks
Work Environment: Hospitals, private practices, clinics, urgent care centers, or specialty offices. Usually full-time, seated at a desk, with constant patient and staff interaction.

Medical Administrative Assistant – Requirements*
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certificate/Diploma in Medical Office Administration, Medical Assisting, or Health Information Management preferred
Experience:
- 1-2 years in a medical office, hospital, or customer service role preferred
- Entry-level positions may offer on-the-job training
Technical Skills:
- Proficient with EHR/EMR systems: Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, etc.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, basic ICD-10/CPT coding, and insurance processes
- Strong typing speed 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- MS Office/Google Workspace, email, and multi-line phone systems
