We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Project Manager to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a simulator-based training project. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating project activities in line with approved work plans, budgets, timelines, and donor requirements.
The Project Manager will ensure compliance with BMZ funding regulations, coordinate project partners and stakeholders, oversee technical and financial reporting, and support the long-term sustainability of project outcomes.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education
Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Management, Project Management, International Development, or a related field.
A Master's degree in Public Health, Health Systems Management, International Development, Business Administration, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 4–7 years of progressive experience managing donor-funded health or development projects.
Proven experience managing projects funded by international donors, preferably BMZ or similar development partners.
Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and engaging government ministries, healthcare institutions, and implementing partners.
Experience in project planning, budgeting, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting.
Experience managing capacity-building or simulation-based training projects will be an added advantage.
Technical Skills
Strong project planning, implementation, and coordination skills.
Sound knowledge of BMZ donor compliance, financial management, procurement, and reporting requirements.
Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and partnership management skills.
Strong monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting capabilities.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and deliver results within agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and overall operational coordination of the project.
Ensure full compliance with BMZ requirements, including funding regulations, procurement procedures, documentation, and audit processes.
Monitor project implementation and ensure that annual training targets are achieved.
Coordinate project partners, including HelpMeSee, Al Basar, and NPMCN, while promoting institutional integration of the training programme.
Manage project budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness.
Lead donor reporting and implement results-oriented monitoring and evaluation systems.
Ensure the integration of inclusion, safeguarding, and patient safety principles into all project activities.
Prepare and submit technical and financial reports in accordance with donor requirements.
Engage government ministries, healthcare institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and sustainability.

It is part of the Eleta Eye Institute Group, which is a network of five institutions in the South West region of Nigeria that provide high-volume cataract surgery. The network performed 16,590 cataract surgeries in the past 5 years.
